Meet Roadrunner Admin Agent

Admin Agent: a six-pointed asterisk in a teal-to-orange gradient on dark green

Today we’re introducing Roadrunner’s Admin Agent: a new way to configure products and all your associated business rules using natural language, right inside Roadrunner.

We’re also introducing Admin MCP, which gives AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT access to the same configuration capabilities and guidance. Use Admin Agent for changes inside Roadrunner, or work from product briefs and pricing documents in your preferred AI tool with Admin MCP.

From a product brief to working catalog

Say your team is launching a new product that combines a platform subscription with metered usage, one-time launch services, support add-ons, and volume discounts. Requirements arrive from several teams, each in a different format. Traditionally, admins have had to manually translate those requirements into products, pricing, and rules, then test that everything works together.

Even a small pricing change can affect amendments, renewals, and downstream finance and billing systems. Creating test quotes and tracing how a price was calculated can take as much effort as making the change itself.

With Admin MCP, you can instead give a connected AI client your product brief and ask it to build the configuration in Roadrunner. The agent can create the products, plans, pricing, and rules, guided by Roadrunner’s skills and your team’s configuration guidance. You define the requirements and expected outcomes; the agent helps carry out the setup and testing.

Keep pricing, approvals, and rules up to date

Business rules change as your company grows. Finance may introduce a new approval requirement, legal may update deal review policies, or Deal Desk may adjust discount thresholds. Each change means updating the configuration and checking that the right deals trigger the right approvals.

Admin Agent helps you make those updates inside Roadrunner. Ask it to find and update an approval rule, explain why a quote requires review, adjust a pricing rule, or add an optional product to a bundle. Reference existing products and rules with @ to make your request specific.

For example, ask the agent to require Deal Desk review whenever Analytics is included in a quote, and apply a 15% discount on AI Units when the quantity reaches 1,000. Then ask it to create test scenarios so you can check that the approval and discount rules behave as expected.

How it works

Products reference price rules, price rules reference variables, and approval rules depend on what is in the quote. Making a change means understanding those connections, finding the right configuration, and checking the result.

Seeing the big picture

Admin Agent uses code mode to gather related configuration efficiently. It can write a short code snippet that queries the catalog and follows references between products, pricing, and rules, bringing relevant context together in a single run instead of looking up every object separately.

Testing configuration changes

Admin Agent helps you check that pricing and approval rules behave as intended. It can check rule logic for errors, preview how a change affects calculated values, and run tests for pricing calculations and approval workflows. For example, it can use existing quotes or create test quotes to check whether a volume discount applies above the threshold and stays off below it.

Testing supports your review. Check the configuration and the actual results, including which quotes a change affects, rather than relying only on the agent’s summary. Start in a demo or UAT tenant: edits take effect immediately in the tenant where you make them.

Configure in Roadrunner or your preferred AI tool

Use Admin Agent inside Roadrunner for focused updates: add a SKU, adjust a pricing rule, or ask why an approval rule is firing. It opens in Ask mode for questions about your configuration. Switch to Edit when you’re ready to make changes.

For larger builds, use Claude, ChatGPT, or another compatible AI tool connected through Admin MCP. Give that tool your product brief or pricing document, then ask it to create the configuration in Roadrunner. Admin MCP gives your chosen AI tool access to the same configuration capabilities and skills library that power Admin Agent.

Both options can create, update, and delete configuration across the Product and Configuration admin tabs. Today, you can ask questions about system settings such as users and roles, but cannot edit them. To work from document attachments, use a connected AI tool; Admin Agent inside Roadrunner does not yet accept attachments.
